Description
It is only necessary to explain further, that the descriptive part of geology, and the details of palasontology, have been reduced to and outline, in order to admit of a fuller development of other divisións of the same great department of human knowledge.
The treatiscs on crystallography and mineralogy will, it is hoped, be found to contain all the information which can be required by a student wishing to master the elements of those sciences. The various forms of crystals are referred to six great classes or systems; under each system will be found complete lists of all the minerals know to have assumed forms or faces belonging to it, together with the angular elements which determine their relation to their ares.
